7.20 Merchandise Transactions<br />

7.18.2.3 Disposition of Suspicious Captured Cards<br />

The following <strong>Rules</strong> replace Chapter 7, “Acquiring,” Rule 7.18.2.3 in part 1<br />

of this rulebook:<br />

A magnetic stripe of a non-European Card must be destroyed by cutting in half<br />

through the magnetic stripe and the Card should be disposed of. However, if it<br />

is obvious that the captured Card is fraudulent (i.e. white plastic), the Acquirer<br />

must return the Card without cutting it in half to <strong>MasterCard</strong> Europe, Fraud and<br />

Security Department.<br />

7.20 Merchandise Transactions<br />

7.20.1 Approved Merchandise Categories<br />

7.23 ATM Access Fees<br />

In addition to the Approved Merchandise Categories listed in Chapter 7,<br />

“Acquiring,” Rule 7.20.1 of this rulebook, the following applies:<br />

Merchandise Category Explanation<br />

Mobile Phone Top Up A specified amount of prepaid wireless telephone time,<br />

to be credited to the mobile SIM card associated with<br />

the subscriber’s prepaid telephone account.<br />

Bill Payment Payment via the ATM of utility, telephone or other bills.<br />

The Transaction may be identified with MCC 4900 or<br />

MCC 6050.<br />

7.23.1 Domestic Transactions<br />

The following <strong>Rules</strong> replace Chapter 7, “Acquiring,” Rule 7.23.1, paragraph<br />

1 in part 1 of this rulebook:<br />

Upon complying with the ATM Access Fee notification requirements of the<br />

<strong>Rules</strong>, Acquirers in the United Kingdom may assess an ATM Access Fee on<br />

a Transaction initiated with a Card that was issued in the United Kingdom<br />

so long as the Acquirer applies the ATM Access Fee in a consistent and<br />

nondiscriminatory fashion.<br />

Acquirers in the United Kingdom must not assess an ATM Access Fee on<br />

non-financial (anything other than a cash withdrawal) Transactions.<br />
