Asia/Pacific Region
Overview
Set forth below are the Rule variations to the Maestro Global Rules and
additional Rules for the Asia/Pacific Region. In most cases, the Asia/Pacific
chapter supplements part 1 of this rulebook and Asia/Pacific Customers must
comply with the Rules in both part 1 and Chapter 15, “Asia/Pacific Region,”
of this rulebook.
If a subsection in the Asia/Pacific regional chapter contains the full set of Rules
applicable to Asia/Pacific Customers, in place of the corresponding chapter
in part 1 of this rulebook, then this is clearly mentioned, and Asia/Pacific
Customers are required to comply only with the Rules in that Asia/Pacific
chapter.
In all cases, Customers should refer to part 1 of this rulebook in the first instance.
In addition to the defined terms in the “Definitions,” chapter in part 1 of this
rulebook, the following applies:
Competing International ATM Network
A network of ATMs and access cards, other than the Corporation, identified by
a common brand mark that is used exclusively or primarily for ATM interchange
and that possesses each of the following characteristics:
• it operates in at least three (3) countries;
• it uses a common service mark or common service marks to identify the
terminals and cards which provide account access through it;
• there are at least forty million (40,000,000) debit cards that provide account
access through it; and
• there are at least twenty-five thousand (25,000) ATMs that provide account
access through it.

In addition to the Rules in Chapter 1, “Participation,” Rule 1.1 in part 1 of this
