Overview<br />

Set forth below are the Rule variations to the <strong>Maestro</strong> <strong>Global</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> and<br />

additional <strong>Rules</strong> for the Latin America and the Caribbean Region. In most<br />

cases, the Latin America and the Caribbean chapter supplements part 1 of this<br />

rulebook and Latin America and the Caribbean Customers must comply with<br />

the <strong>Rules</strong> in both part 1 and Chapter 18, “Latin America and the Caribbean<br />

Region,” of this rulebook.<br />

If a subsection in the Latin America and the Caribbean regional chapter contains<br />

the full set of <strong>Rules</strong> applicable to Latin America and the Caribbean Customers,<br />

in place of the corresponding chapter in part 1 of this rulebook, then this is<br />

clearly mentioned, and Latin America and the Caribbean Customers are required<br />

to comply only with the <strong>Rules</strong> in that Latin America and the Caribbean chapter.<br />

In all cases, Customers should refer to part 1 of this rulebook in the first instance.<br />

In addition to the defined terms in the “Definitions,” chapter in part 1 of this<br />

rulebook, the following apply:<br />

Contactless Magnetic Stripe Transaction >><br />

In Brazil, a Transaction initiated by a Cardholder with a Card issued in Brazil at >><br />

a Merchant located in Brazil, and which contains a value of 91 in Data Element<br />

(DE) 22 (Point of Service Entry Mode), subfield 1 (POS Terminal PAN Entry<br />

Mode), data field position 1–2 and a value of 3 or 4 in DE 61 (Point of Service<br />

[POS] Data), subfield 11 (POS Card Data Terminal Input Capability Indicator).<br />

License, Licensed<br />

In Brazil, the contract between the Corporation and a Customer granting the<br />

Customer the right to use one or more of the Mark(s) in accordance with the<br />

Standards. To be “Licensed” means to have such a right pursuant to a License.<br />

<strong>Maestro</strong> PayPass >><br />

<strong>Maestro</strong> PayPass is a contactless payment functionality that uses radio frequency>><br />

(“RF”) technology to exchange Transaction data between a Chip Card, an<br />

Access Device, or a Mobile Payment Device, and a RF-enabled POS Terminal<br />

that bears the <strong>Maestro</strong> PayPass logo.<br />
