9.13 Ceiling Limit Guidelines (<strong>Maestro</strong> PayPass POS Transactions)<br />

For the avoidance of doubt, Rule 9.8.2 of Chapter 9, “Processing Requirements”<br />

of this rulebook does not inhibit a Merchant’s ability to direct the routing of a<br />

transaction conducted in American Samoa, Guam, or Northern Mariana Islands<br />

with a Card that is issued in the United States Region, American Samoa, Guam,<br />

Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands to any debit<br />

payment network enabled on the Card.<br />

9.8.13 CVC 3 Verification—Latin America and the Caribbean >><br />

Region Only<br />

In addition to the rules in Chapter 9, “Processing Requirements,” Rule 9.8 in<br />

part 1 of this rulebook, the following applies in Brazil:<br />

For each Contactless Magnetic Stripe Transaction, the Issuer must verify the<br />

CVC 3 value in the authorization request and provide the result in the response<br />

message.<br />

9.13 Ceiling Limit Guidelines (<strong>Maestro</strong> PayPass POS >><br />

Transactions)<br />

In addition to the rules in Chapter 9, “Processing Requirements,” Rule 9.13 in<br />

part 1 of this rulebook, the following applies in Brazil:<br />

If a Transaction initiated with a Card issued in Brazil exceeds the applicable<br />

Transaction amount ceiling limit, online PIN must be used as the CVM.<br />

NOTE<br />

<strong>Maestro</strong> PayPass Transactions and Contactless Magnetic Stripe Transactions that<br />

exceed the applicable ceiling limit and have been verified by online PIN will not<br />

have chargeback rights under Message Reason Code 77. Refer to Chapter 4 of<br />

the Chargeback Guide for additional information.<br />

11.2 Exception Transaction Types<br />

11.2.1 POS Transactions<br />

In addition to the <strong>Rules</strong> in Chapter 11, “Exception Item Processing,” Rule .1 in<br />

part 1 of this rulebook, the following applies:<br />

Customers are required to support the arbitration chargeback Transaction type.<br />

11.8 Interchange Fees for Exception Transactions<br />

In addition to the <strong>Rules</strong> in Chapter 11, “Exception Item Processing,” Rule 11.8<br />

in part 1 of this rulebook, the following applies:<br />
