SUMMARY
Social exclusion in Europan Regions: a multilevel latent class model
The aim of this paper is the study of social exclusion in European Union,
focusing on the similarities and the differences between the different regions. We
implemented a multilevel latent class model, which enables to analyse the
multidimensional nature of the concept of social exclusion, identifying different
profiles of individuals according to their perception and/or condition of exclusion
in different domains of life. The multilevel extension allows differentiating among
the European regions, underlying the existence of different concepts of social
exclusion. Data for the analysis come from Eurobarometer survey 56.1 of 2001.
