SUMMARY
The disabled and their families: from malaise to social exclusion
Using the micro-data files of multi-purpose surveys, a logistic regression analysis has
been applied to assess whether individual and familiar malaise is related to the
condition of disability. A disabled person is less educated, has less chance of having a
job, however, uneasiness is not directly associated to the availability of economic
resources, but rather it is a state of "bad-being". A disabled child in a family reduces, in
particular, the mother's chances of a professional career and affects the psychological
condition of both parents, and, to a greater extent, that of the mother.
