A segun<strong>da</strong>fase abor<strong>da</strong>rá a tradução brasileira mais popular (nove re-impressões)até 2005 dos poemas de Whitman: a coletânea Folhas <strong>da</strong>s Folhasde Relva feitas por Geir Campos e que é uma reconstrução populare atualiza<strong>da</strong> de uma anterior (Folhas de Relva, Civilização Brasileira1964), na qual um sisudo Whitman foi substituído por um “easyrider” ou um barbudo “beatnik”. A observação <strong>da</strong>s diferenças entreessas duas publicações será o segundo foco <strong>da</strong> apresentação. Oterceiro abor<strong>da</strong>rá o maior acontecimento brasileiro em termosde tradução dos poemas whitmanianos para o português- apublicação, em 2005, <strong>da</strong> tradução dos textos integrais <strong>da</strong> primeirae <strong>da</strong> última edição de Leaves of Grass, feitas por Rodrigo GarciaLopes e por Luciano Alves Meira, respectivamente. Campos (UFV)The objective of this study group is to examine the relationshipamong literature, culture, and society under a theoretical-criticalperspective of the literary text, based on its interaction withother artistic systems and knowledge. Literature registers, byall means, the distinct perceptions human beings have of theuniverse in which they inhabit. As the repository of men’s emotions,thoughts, feelings, anxieties, sufferings, failures, struggles, andsuccesses, literature interacts with the most diverse areas ofthe human knowledge. The discursive universe is, thus, the locusin which the construction of ideas about the world is expressed,through different speeches, points of view, and cultures. In addition,it is worth mentioning that in the distinction of each of human’smeans of expression, interfaces and intersections are (un)veiledin language. With this in mind, the literary text is analyzed inassociation with the dialogic manifestations which exist withinthe social, cultural, and artistic expressions. The research groupalso focuses on producing studies which are identified by theirinterdisciplinary nature, revealed through the literary discourses,137
