Programação & Caderno de Resumosa Carta de Aristeas sobre a Septuaginta e a tradução da bíbliapara o alemão de Lutero, passando rapidamente por movimentostradutórios importantes para a discussão da (in)fidelidade, taiscomo: Românticos Alemães e Belas Infiéis, até chegarmos àsdiscussões teóricas mais contemporâneas, ou seja, textos deautores como George Steiner, Walter Benjamin, Quine eChamberlain, fazendo assim uma interface entre tradução e filosofia,entre o passado e o presente. Nessa retomada histórica podemosperceber a importância das reflexões de grandes tradutores comoCícero, Agostinho e S. Jerônimo na construção de conceitos teóricoscontemporâneos e sua influência sobre o pensar pós-modernodo que se entende por (in)fidelidade, ao tratarmos da relação dooriginal com o texto traduzido. Também trazemos à tona a discussãode questões como a do double bind ou da dualidade que temsempre marcado a história da tradução como fiel ou infiel. Abase da discussão que propomos tem como foco o questionamentoe a desconstrução de alguns conceitos estabelecidos que impedemuma visão e um olhar diferenciados sobre a tradução e sobresua importância no contexto histórico e literário mundial.Palavras-chave: (in)fidelidade, tradução, história, dualidade.Adaptation of Literary Texts in the teaching of EnglishRosamaria Reo Pereira (UFPA)Authentic Literary Texts can be adapted and used as a resourcefor the teaching of reading and writing in English Foreign Languagesclasses. The literary text can be used as a tool in the teachingand learning process of a foreign language. Although all the skills(listening, reading, writing and speaking) are activated when teachersuse a literary piece in their English classes, the aim of thispresentation is to particularly work with the reading and thecomprehension of adapted literary texts. Some short stories fromthe American writer Kate Chopin were adapted by my undergraduatestudents of Pedagogia do Texto Literário from Universidade Federaldo Pará who prepared some reading exercises. These literarytexts were prepared with activities of pre-reading, while-readingand post-reading that were read by the students who study Englishin the Cursos Livres of Universidade Federal do Pará.
