II Congresso Internacional da ABRAPUIand at the same time current theoretical issue: the querellebetween the partisans of the intentionality of the author as akey to the interpretation of his/her poetry and the supportersof the textuality as an open field for interpretive debate. We willexpose and retrace what one of the most authoritative Dickinsonscholars, Betsy Erkilla, once called “The Emily Dickinson wars”.Dramatic Performance Analysis: A Theoretical FrameworkAline de Mello Sanfelice (UFSC)This study presents a selection of analytical tools for theresearch of dramatic performance, considering both the dramatictext (i.e., the script for the stage) and the performance text (i.e.,the encounter of this script with other stage elements, such assetting and costumes). A theoretical framework for the analysisof dramatic performance is developed in light of the three phasesinvolved within a performance, namely, conception, production, and reception of the work of art. The premise within this studyis that these three phases, though being distinct, share importantconnections among them as the understanding of each one requiresa consideration and investigation of the other two. The topicsdiscussed include, amongst others, the relations between a pasttext - that already carries its own history and tradition - and acontemporary conception and production of this text; the seriesof concretizations, which shows how a source text in a sourceculture undergoes several processes (textual, dramaturgical, stage, and receptive concretizations) to be translated to another mediumand staged in a target culture; the notions of situation of enunciationand subtext; the crucial role played by the spectator in the theatricalevent; and the spectator’s horizon of expectations.Shakespearean Puppets:Dramatic and Human Bodies ManipulatedAline Razzera Maciel (UFSC)This study is interested in Shakespeare’s literary body andin human body adaptations. By studying “100 Shakespeare”, aBrazilian puppet play, this study concerns itself with how threeout of nine Shakespeare’s plays were adapted for Puppet Theatre.231
