Yet, placing performance within the broad perspectivesof Intercultural Theatre and Sociosemiotics, the proposed paperfocuses on theatre and on live performance in order to attempta reflection on theoretical and procedural provisos and potentialsof dramatic performance analysis. With an additional focus onand foregrounding the conceptual ?contestedness? of performance,as well as chronicling definitions of performance and dramaticperformance analysis, and challenging the received distinctionbetween the notions of performance analysis and historicalreconstruction, I argue that these two processes engage inreconstruction, since any live performance is evanescent, andthat, strictly speaking, analytical procedures and constraintsequally apply and are equally mediated by the analyst.The Literary Text And The Search For Meaning:An InterfaceBetween Language Learning And Literary AwarenessJosimeire Xavier Forster (SENAC-AL)The paper reflects upon the outcome of a Master’s courseresearch at the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras e Lingüísticaat Universi<strong>da</strong>de federal de Alagoas that has accepted the challengeto use an authentic literary work instead of simplified gradedreaders in the foreign language setting aiming at fostering acreative response and an active responsive attitude. By establishinga dialogue between Literature and Applied Linguistics, and havingas its main theoretical grounds the principles and methods ofthe latter, the research shows that literary, linguistic as wellas cultural aims can be reached in an interactive and engagingenvironment. Baktin (1992), Brumfit (1991), Brandão (1999), Certeau(1996), Lazar (1993), Carter & Long (1991), Kramsch (1993), Freire(1996), Lajolo (1993), and Zozzoli (2006) are amongst the authorssupporting the research. The field research consisted of usingan authentic literary work in a private language institution, inMaceió-AL, with two groups of English learners which had differentlinguistic competence.
