Programação & Caderno de ResumosIn Macedo’s verse tale, which takes place in a small tropicalbay, there are three witches: the Nebulosa, queen of all witches, who once inhabited the area and who now lives in the bottomof the ocean; her protégée, the love-sick maiden known as Doidaand finally the maid’s mother, who pledged loyalty to the Nebulosa, becoming herself a witch. Macedo’s witches bring to mind anotherromantic witch, Percy B. Shelley’s witch of Atlas. Some pointsof contact unite two of Macedo’s witches and Shelley’s: they arefrom peripheral continents and of mixed blood. Macedo, however, drives his sorcerers deep in the lands of the New World, whileShelley gives his a royal Greek father.
