• Many suspicions, but only a small amount <strong>of</strong> scientific data demonstrate a<br />

correlation between “environmental diseases”, e. g., sick building syndrome and<br />

solvent exposure.<br />

• It has been hypothesized that - as a rule - exposure to mixtures <strong>of</strong> solvents at low<br />

non-toxic doses <strong>of</strong> the individual constituent represents no danger to health. 63<br />

• There exists overwhelming evidence <strong>of</strong> adverse health effects caused by accepted<br />

environmental noxes such as tobacco smoke and the consumption <strong>of</strong> alcoholic<br />

beverages.<br />
