515515r Passive Infra RedIntroductionThe 515r Passive Infra Red (PIR) is an indoor detector designed to work withthe 500r+ and 500r wire free control panels. The detector has a fan shapedsensitive area approximately 10 metres in radius.Figure 3. PIR Detector ZonesThe case is protected by an internal tamper switch.Technical SpecificationPart no.= 515rUK-00.Power supply = 2 x AA alkaline cells (3V).Low battery levels = 2.1 to 2.5VBattery life= Approximately 14 months.Temp. range = -10 to +55 ºC.Transmitter range = Up to 40m depending on site.Walk Testing and LockoutIn normal use the 515r uses a three minute lockout time in order to extendbattery life. The lockout timer works as follows:a) The unit detects movement, signals the panel, and starts the lockout timer.b) If the unit detects movement while the lockout timer is running, then itrestarts the lockout timer but does not signal the panel.c) When the lockout timer expires the unit signals the panel the next time itdetects movement. If you want to test the unit in normal use you should wait at least three minutesbetween activations wthout being in the area.To defeat the lockout timer open and close the detector’s tamper switch. Thisaction starts the test mode. In this mode the detector has a 30 second lockouttime. At the end of half an hour the detector reverts to normal mode, with athree minute lockout time.Learning the DetectorTo learn the detector with the control unit see “ Learning Detectors” in the500r+ or 500r section.496362 Issue 1 5 of 10
