4 of 18703rInputsConnectorsThe 703 provides four sets of input connectors: (see item 12 in Figure 1).Each set of two connectors comprises input and ground (Gnd).PowerThe 703r can operate using either two internal 1.5V AA alkaline batteries, oran external 9-15VDC power supply. Terminals for the external power supplyare on the main connector. When used with an external power supply the 703r uses the internalbatteries as a standby source.TamperThe lower left corner of the circuit card holds the lid Tamper switch. Theswitch is connected to screw terminals to left of the main connector. You canconnect this output to your own equipment, or to one of the input channelconnectors. The switch contact opens when the lid opens, and closes whenthe lid closes.Note that there is also a rear tamper switch mounted on the back of thePCB. To use the rear tamper switch as well as the lid tamper remove therear tamper link (see item 5 in Figure 1).In addition, provided you have fitted a suitable antenna, the 703r can detectwhether the antenna has been cut. Remove the jumper from the antennatamper jumper pins to enable this function (see item 8 in Figure 1).OutputsThe BNC connector at the top of the card is a standard Scantronic aerialconnection. The green power LED lights when external DC power is present, and goesoff when the unit is operating off internal batteries.Just to the right of the battery a red LED shows when the unit is transmitting. This LED shines through a window in the case lid, and can be used to teachthe transmitter's identity to receivers with infra-red learn functions. You mayenable or disable this LED in programming. The 703r transmitter contains an internal sounder to provide entry/exit tonesin Mode 6.Controls and DisplaysThe PCB provides a two digit LED display and two push buttons forprogramming modes and controlling the transmitter learning process. SeeChapter 4 for details.
