MRNodeThis product is complies with the requirements of CLC/TS 50131-2: 2003 atGrade 2 and environmental Class II.For further details and Declarations of Conformity please go to www.coopersecurity.co.uk.Overview3. InstallationInstalling the MRNode comprises the following steps:1. Carry out a radio site survey and fi nd the best position for the expanderunit.2. Run a cable from the position of the MRNode to the closest networkconnection.3. Fit the MRNode pcb and backplate.4. Connect the MRNode to the alarm system control unit.5. Make the MRNode learn the wirefree detectors used for the installation. All the transmitters designed to work with the MRNode have an approximatemaximum range of between 200m to 900m in free space. You must takecare when siting these devices. In some circumstances you may experiencea reduction in signal strength to the receiver. This reduction is calledattenuation and can be caused by a wide variety of natural and man-madehazards.The most common form of attenuation is that caused by buildings. Somebuilding materials are more attenuating than others. Metallic surfaces of theright size can stop all radio signals by refl ecting them away from the receiver.(This also means that sometimes the same surfaces can increase the signalstrength by refl ecting more signal towards the receiver.) Wooden surfacesare almost transparent to radio signals. Brick and stone have attenuationssomewhere between metal and wood. Always carry out a site survey beforestarting installation (see next page). All the transmitters, apart from the telecommands, pendants and PAs, reportevery four minutes to the MRNode. If any transmitter fails to report within twohours then the control unit may generate an alarm. Do not remove any radiodetector from its area without fi rst deleting its zone number from the controlunit.4 of 10
