8841IntroductionThe 8841 is a plug-in module that allows an alarm system control unit tocommunicate with both fi xed and mobile destinations over the mobile phonenetwork. In addition the 8841 allows the system to send SMS (Short MessageService) messages.The module and its antenna must be fi tted within the body of the control unit,which has sockets for that purpose. This manual provides brief instructionson fi tting the 8841. To program the 8841 please see the relevant Installationand Programming Guide for the control unit.InstallationNote: If you are adding the 8841 to a control unit that has already been installed thenfi rst make sure that the system is completely unset and in installer programmingmode. (This is to prevent the control unit raising un-necessary tamper alarmswhen you open the case.)1. Undo the two screws at the bottom of the case and ease the case bodyfrom the wall plate.Caution! Disconnect the ribbon cable from the wall plate before opening thecase completely, see Figure 1.Figure 1.2. Undo all four screws holding the body of control unit together. See Figure2.2 of 8 Issue 1
