precisar a data do quadro.
1660), The Little Street (1657-1658), e a View of Delft (1661).
(1670), e Lady Writing a Letter with a Her Maid (1670) – datas prováveis. De
acordo com Wheelock, Jr.:
In none of his painting from the 1670s does Vermeer achieve the softly diffused
flesh tones evident here, which he created by layering a thin, flesh-colored glaze
over the flesh tones. The artist also diffused the contour of [his model’s] check by
extending this thin glaze over the edge of the thicker underlayer, a technique
during the mid 1660s in painting such… (Ibidem: 2000, 186).
Somente Mistress
and Maid (1667) representa figuras contra um relativo fundo negro (neste caso,
existe uma sugestão de cortina). No entanto, uma inspeção mais detalhada revela
alguns paralelismos entre Mistress and Maid e a Girl with the a Pearl Earring. No
