Projekttitel Forest Biodiversity Test-phase Assessments (ForestBIOTA)
Projektbeschreibung ForestBIOTA aims at the further development of monitoring methods for some aspects
of forest biodiversity as well as towards correlative studies between some compositional,
structural and functional indices of forest biodiversity. It is based on more than
100 already existing intensive monitoring plots of the EU and ICP Forests monitoring
programme with well established infrastructure and data base. Until today harmonized
methods for the assessment of (i) stand structure (ii) deadwood (iii) epiphytic lichens
(iv) ground vegetation and (v) forest classification have been developed. Assessments
have started in 2003 on selected plots in a limited number of countries. The project is
co-financed by the European Commission under the 'Forest Focus' scheme.
Laufzeit 04/ 2005 – 05/2006
