Opening a M.C. Pack Chart file<br />

Electronic Charts<br />

IMPORTANT ! If you want to change the chart CD-ROM in use, you have to first close the charts in use.<br />

Select Open from the File menu. The open file dialog appears.<br />

If necessary, pull down by clicking the pop-up menu Format of file and select Charts. Then pull down the pop-up menu<br />

File of type and select M.C. Pack from the File of type pop-up menu.<br />

Insert, for example, the Maptech Chart Pack "Gulf of Mexico" CD-ROM. After a short while, select the Open function in<br />

the File menu, then select the CD drive:<br />

The contents of CD-ROM are displayed as a list in the dialog box:<br />

Open the "Charthdr" folder.<br />

Then click one of the files (.hdr extension) of the list, and finally click Open.<br />

Note: <strong>MaxSea</strong> automatically open all the charts of the folder.<br />

The dialog box with warning about the use of digitized documents appears. Click I AGREE to agree.<br />

IMPORTANT - <strong>MaxSea</strong> is compatible with BSB charts <strong>version</strong> 2.0 (and higher), as well as BSB charts <strong>version</strong> 1.<br />

<strong>MaxSea</strong> handles any kind of BSB charts, even the charts which are not North Up oriented.<br />

In the U.S., Maptech charts have the same high level of detail as NOAA paper charts. NOAA is the national hydrographic<br />

office of the United States. These charts are the result of a 10 year cooperative research and development agreement<br />

between Maptech and NOAA.<br />

Look after your CD-ROMs, cleaning them when necessary with a product designed specifically for this purpose. A dirty<br />

CD-ROM may lead to the malfunctioning of <strong>MaxSea</strong> and/or the system software.<br />

IMPORTANT - when using Maptech Chart, we recommend that you create a folder called "CHARTS" under the "My<br />

Documents" folder in your PC, and then copy the charts from the CD into this new folder.<br />
