Performance
Note: in order to guarantee the reliability of data displayed on board the ship, the program always gives priority
to receive from the navigation system; it only calculates data (for example, the VMG ), which the
navigation system has not sent.
How to create a Polar file
MaxSea simply allows you to activate and deactivate this function from the performance menu when you leave and return
to port.
Professional racers and serious sailors will still be able to modify the appropriate file manually at a later date should they
feel the need to do so.
These instructions will show you how to create a MaxSea Polar file using basic information provided by the boat
manufacturer (2 polar graphs at 2 different wind speeds.)
Note that Microsoft Excel must be installed on the computer.
In the “My MaxSea” folder in “My Documents” locate the file “Polar.xls” (Excel file). Open this file
This file contains a Macro. Macros must be turned ON to correctly convert the Excel spreadsheet to the Polar file. If you
do not see a menu item called “For the Polar” on the upper right corner of Excel, Macros are not enabled
