Archived 3D Database
What means archived database?
It is not especially necessary to confuse the notion of database Backup and the notion of archived database
3D Bathymetric database
The Backup is only a working copy. So if during a tide the data which you recorded are not correct, you can decide not to
keep them. To do so, you must restore the database previously Backed-up so as to be able to return on an clean
database by ignoring the last acquisitions.
The archives is a help copy of your data base in case having problems on your hard disk or on your PC. The backup will
be made rather on an external support such as an external Hard disk or a CD-ROM. You can keep a copy of your
database in a sure place and possibly reload it in case of important problem.
Caution : please, do not store your Database archives on same hard disk as the active database because you risk to
saturate the hard disk pointlessly. Furthermore in case of "crash" of your hard disk you would lose all your work.
Establish an Archive
To archive your database you must :
Protect your Database if necessary, make a backup of it (3D Backup by default) on an external support (the copy process
depends on the type of support you will use : CD, Hard disk)
