MaxSea Operator Manual version 12.6 32 • The active course is removed and a Waypoint is placed where the ship was when the Buoy icon was clicked (Man Overboard point). • A Waypoint is created at the boat position and it appears as a graphical representation and continually shows the heading and distance to return to the MOB point. At the same time an active route is created named Man Over Board (see number 3 in following picture). • The Track and a point are drawn on the chart and the boat's speed is written in the active layer when MOB function is activated. IMPORTANT - The overboard position depends on the precision of the GPS at the moment when the function is activated. The person/object overboard may drift due to winds and currents. Returning to Normal Mode You may cancel the MOB active route by choosing [Cancel Active Route] from the [Route] menu. A waypoint Man Over Board is automatically created and added in the Waypoints Center. You may change the chart scale, select the previous route and restart it again. You can erase the MOB waypoint using the Delete tool,or by selecting it with the finger tool and hitting backspace or under the Waypoint Center list. Modify the Boat Position to Make a Test Route The Dead Reckoning function is used for testing, planning, or should the vessel’s GPS system fail. It is a convenient and versatile function since it is so crucial to the day's work in ocean navigation. Use the [Dead Reckoning] function to modify the boat position, this is accessed through [Utilities] on the Menu bar. Click “OK”, and you are now in Dead Reckoning mode. Modify the position using the Dead reckoning palette

Modify the position using the Position modification tool You can modify the ship position using the Position modification tool , click one of the plotted Ship icon, then, holding the mouse button down, drag and release the button when the cursor is located on the new desired position. During the move a screen tip indicates the new direction and distance calculate from the boat position actual. Adjusting Dead Reckoning Speed and Heading using the Dead Reckoning palette To fix the ship COG , or speed • Click on one of each symbol or to adjust the speed . At this moment the speed data is updated in the DataNav palette. • Click on each symbol or to adjust heading (clockwise or counter clockwise). The modified heading appears above in the DataNav palette. To turn off the Dead Reckoning function go to the [Utilities] menu and choose [Dead Reckoning] again. 33
