Trawl Positioning
Dead Reckoning Trawl Positioning
This function is used for testing trawl positioning when trawl positioning system are not connected.
User knows the wire length and the depth where the Engin is supposed to be. Always have an estimation of the trawl
position displayed on your screen. It is less accurate than dedicated trawl door positioning systems but it is a good value
solution. Reduce the risk of loosing or damaging your trawl. Fish with more precision and as close as possible to
dangerous, but full of fish, areas.
Setting up the simulated Trawl positioning
1. Go to the [utilities] menu and choose [Data Input / Output Settings...]
2. Click on Trawl tab and Add Instrument button
3. Check Simulated in "Add a connection to an instrument" and click Next
4. Draw Engin is selected and click Next to finish
How to Determine Trawl Positioning Parameters
1. Go to the [Display] on menu bar and choose [Manual Trawl Positionning]
2. Enter the Wire length as shown on following example 900m is chosen (1500m by default and you can choose
value from 0 to 99999,99)
3. Enter the Wire tension as shown on following example 70%is chosen (70% by default choose value from 10%
to100% )
4. Enter an estimated depth as 10m for example (500m by default choose value from 0 to 10000)
5. Check display for showing the Trawl engine drawn in the Depth Profile window selected on MaxSea Mode.
6. Click Apply to confirm.
MaxSea displays the estimated trawl position
MaxSea has developed a technology which provides the estimated fishing gear position. This function is mainly designed
for trawlers (pelagic or bottom trawler). Always have an estimation of the trawl position displayed on your screen. Reduce
the risk of loosing or damaging your trawl.
Fish with more precision and as close as possible to dangerous, but full of fish, areas.
The trawl is displayed as a half circle located behind the boat based on COG. (as shown in Fig.1)
The trawl is shown on the cartography and in the profile window (not in 3D).(as shown in Fig.2)
It is less accurate than dedicated trawl door positioning systems but it is a good value solution.
