MaxSea Operator Manual version 12.6 Information concerning an ARPA target displayed on the chart 362 1. Either using the Select tool double click a target to display the information window for this target which shows the parameters received. 2. This dialog box allows you: • To save the target track check the Save the track box to start and un-check it to stop the display and record the target track exactly as you would for your own ship. • To modify the name of the target and add a comment. • To select a new file other than the default file on which you will record the tracks of all the targets, click on "New file" button and choose a path. • To inform you about the received target data ( date, time, headings speed and if available the sea surface temperature data) How to configure ARPA system with MaxSea After connecting the ARPA System, you just need to configure the corresponding serial port at the appropriate Norm. 1. Go to [Utilities] menu and select [Input Output data settings] 2. Click on the Radar tab to set the corresponding port and its norm 3. Click on Add instrument. 4. Select serial COM port where the system is connected and click Next. 5. Choose a norm between Radar & ARPA ($--TTM+$--TLL+$--RSD), Kelvin Hugues HR2000 or other... 6. Click Next and Finish to confirm. ARPA Targets Displayed on the Chart ARPA targets are displayed on the chart in real time. ARPA's Target Symbol To display the ARPA label on the chart go to [Targets] menu and choose [Target Label Displayed on Chart] This label depends to your choice and if needed to change the label displayed on the chart go to [Targets] menu and select [Option Targets:..] then [ARPA...] to call up the dialog box which allows you to choose a type of label between three choices Name, Call sign + Name or Name + Sea Surface Temperature. The Name of the mobile is the label text displayed on chart by default. Various information from target (SOG, heading, TCPA, etc.) are displayed and updated in real time . Get received information from an ARPA target 1. Using the Select point tool double click on the target symbol to bring up the Targets properties dialog box. 2. Right-click on an ARPA target to call up the context menu and choose "Targets properties" Tracking on an ARPA target 1. Using the Select point tool go to the [Targets] menu and choose [Track on]. 2. Right-click on an ARPA target to call up the context menu and choose "Track on" How to configure the Time Out This option depends to the Radar settings • Select eventually the time limit (in seconds) for a radar target is considered as lost. • To do it, select [Data input/output settings…] from the [Utilities] menu. • Click on the Radar tab to choose the instrument for which you want to configure. • Select a port for the Radar and choose ARPA and then click on the "Advanced settings…" button. A windows appears and allows you to adjust: 1 - Target Time Out for all targets that belong to the selected instrument (45 sec time out by default). 2 - Identifying number for each instrument connected. By default this ID number is assigned. This allows to easily identify the owner displayed targets. Note: If you choose the option "Do not use time out" , a target which once appeared since MaxSea's launch is never marked as lost. Targets 363
