MaxSea Operator Manual version 12.6 388 Stby / Tx Standby - Transmit NavNet Radar ARPA Settings In certain situations, echoes from very distance targets may appear as false echoes (second-trace echoes) on the screen. This occurs when the return echo is received one transmission cycle later, or after a next radar pulse has been transmitted. To choose the Radar receiver transmission mode: 1. Click on the Stdby/Tx line to display the Pop-up menu 2. Choose transmission status Standby or transmit 3. Press [ENTER] to validate. ARPA Option Range Operation Auto Acquisition ON - OFF CPA Alarm Range OFF, 0.5nm, 1nm, 2nm, 3nm, 5nm, 6nm TCPA Alarm Limit OFF 30 seconds 1 minute 2 minutes 3 minutes 4 minutes 5 minutes 1. Check the Box to activate Auto Acquisition. 2. Press [ENTER] to validate. The ARP can acquire up to ten targets automatically by setting an automatic acquisition area. When automatic acquisition is selected after acquiring targets manually, only the remaining capacity for targets may be automatically acquired. For example, if seven targets have been manually acquired, three targets may be automatically acquired after switching to automatic acquisition. To set the CPA alarm range: 1. Click on the CPA line to display the Pop-up menu 2. Choose a CPA limit desired from 0.5 nm, 1 nm, 2 nm, 3 nm, 5 nm and 6 nm. 3. Press [ENTER] to validate. Note Unit (nm) = miles To set the TCPA alarm range: 1. Click on the TCPA line to display the Popup menu 2. Choose a TCPA limit from 30 sec, 1 min, 2 min, 3 min, 4 min, 5 min, 6 min and 12 min. 3. Press [ENTER] to validate. Note Unit (min) = minutes
6 minutes 12 minutes Setting Up FURUNO Radar Overlay in MaxSea Setting Up FURUNO Radar Overlay in MaxSea Radar OVERLAY - Following documentation is dedicated to MaxSea working with FURUNO Radar connected ( such as FAR21X7 equipments .) To display FURUNO Radar Overlay on the chart : • Click the "Radar Overlay" information button in the chart toolbar to toggle Radar display on/off • When Radar Overlay is on, FURUNO Radar toolbar appears in the Chart toolbar. See also related topic to use "FURUNO Radar Palette" • This tool also allows you to display available Radar options : 1. Choose Trails to display moving historic (second trace echo). 2. Choose Rings to display them on the chart. If the Radar unit is turned on and is properly connected to the computer. The Radar image provides on the opened chart is automatically displayed in the radar operating area. You will learn in this section how to adjust Radar Overlay with MaxSea. Choose [Option: Radar...] from the [Utilities] menu to call up the dialog box in which you can : 1. Adjust FURUNO Radar Gain 2. Adjust FURUNO Radar Display 3. Adjust FURUNO Radar Signal Processing Radar Toolbar By default when you click on the Radar Button the following radar toolbar is displayed at the same time. When signal is transmitted from radar, the TX button become activated and it is surrounded with red color as it is shown above. To call up the "Radar" toolbar go to the [Display] menu and select [Radar]. 389
