Performance<br />

Performance Module Overview<br />

- Following documentation is available depending on your own software <strong>version</strong>. Performance solutions are an<br />

optional add-on to <strong>MaxSea</strong> (such as Polar file, Lay Lines, Wind Sensor and Data Trend Center.)<br />

By using data received from the navigation center as well as stored information, <strong>MaxSea</strong> enables you to carry out<br />

sophisticated calculations which optimize the sailing boat’s performance.<br />

These functions are only available if you have program’s PERFORMANCE module.<br />

In this section you will learn on:<br />

1. What is a polar file, opening it, modifying a polar file, creating a new polar file and displaying the Polar Window<br />

in <strong>MaxSea</strong><br />

2. The LayLines palette and displaying it on the chart<br />

3. Using <strong>MaxSea</strong> Wind Sensor<br />

4. Using the "Tend Data Center" function<br />

Note:<br />

(1) - the Performance module requires a speed polar file pertaining to your vessel. <strong>MaxSea</strong> has produced a library of polars in<br />

addition to software which allows you to analyze your ship’s performance to modify them or create your own.<br />

(2) - this module's functions are found under the Performance menu.<br />

<strong>MaxSea</strong> polar file<br />

The polar axes for boat are different and <strong>MaxSea</strong> will calculate the best route.<br />

These polar are very useful for the knowledge of its sailing boat and <strong>MaxSea</strong> puts at your disposal a whole library of polar<br />

files in reference to one Category of boat.<br />

These polar files are to list by default in " My Documents |My <strong>MaxSea</strong>| Polar" repertory.<br />

When starting <strong>MaxSea</strong> for the first time, you will open the polar file stored by default in "My Document | My <strong>MaxSea</strong> "<br />

folder.<br />

If you have a professional <strong>MaxSea</strong> <strong>version</strong> you can create automatically your own polar file.<br />
