6. BUILDING-RESOURCEThe BUILDING-RESOURCE instruction is used to specify and schedule buildinglevel use of gas, electricity, and hot water. In this context, "buildinglevel" means not in any specif'ied SPACE. As such, these loads do not contributeheating or cooling demands on any SPACE but rather they create demandson the PLANT for utilities. These loads are passed directly to PLANT,bypassing SYSTEMS. The user may use this command to specify electricity, gas,hot water, or elevators not in any particular SPACE, outside lighting, exteriorelectrical outlets, sidewalk defrosters, etc. Note that no BUILDING-RESOURCEkeyword will work unless the referenced schedule is expl icitly defined.U-nameis not permi ttedBUILDING-RESOURCE This command tells LOADS that the data to follow specifybuilding level (as opposed to SPACE level) use of gas, electricity, and hot water. Energy use entered under thiscommand does not contribute to space loads but doescontribute to the util ity load on the plant.GAS-SCHEDULEidentifies the previously entered schedule that is used tospecify the building-level gas use as a function of time.Schedule inputs are fractions of the quantity given by theGAS-THERMS keyword. If GAS-SCHEDULE is not input, theschedule values will all default to zero and no gas usagewill occur, regardless of the value specified for GAS-THERMS.GAS-THERMS is the maximum gas use at the building level. It is multiplied by the hourly schedule values defined through theGAS-SCHEDULE keyword. This gas use is in addition to anygas use specified in the SPACE or SPACE-CONDITIONS commandswith the SOURCE-TYPE, SOURCE-BTU/HR, and SOURCE-SCHEDULEkeywords.HW-SCHEDULEHOT-WATERidentifies a previously entered schedule that is used tospecify the building level hot water use as a function oftime. Schedule inputs are fractions of the quantity givenby the HOT-WATER keyword. If HW-SCHEDULE is not input, theschedule values will all default to zero and no hot water(or steam) usage will occur, regardless of the valuespecified for HOT-WATER.is the maximum building level hot water (or steam) use (inBtu/hr). It is adjusted by the schedule named inHW-SCHEDULE. This hot water use is in addition to any hotwater use specified in the SPACE or SPACE-CONDITIONSins tru ct ions. The HOT-WATER load entered here is passed directly to thePLANT. None of the load is added to the space heating orcooling loads. A portion of the HOT-WATER load that isentered under the SPACE-CONDITIONS command, however, can beadded to the space by the use of SOURCE-LATENT or SOURCESENSIBLE keywords. This may be desired when Simulating aI I I. 39 (Revised 5/81)
