thermal energy consumption of the building. The 00E-2 PLANT program. alsocontains subroutines for computing the life-cycle costs of plant equlpment.6. ECONOMICS ProgramThe ECONOMICS program may be used to compute the life-cycle costs ofvarious building components and to generate investment statistics for economiccomparison of alternative projects. The methodology used is similar to thatrecommended by OOE for evaluation of proposed energy conservation projects(Ref. 4).7. REPORT ProgramA REPORT program is used to collect information from the output files ofthe LSPE programs. The output data are then arranged in lists or tablesaccording to the format of a standard output report. If a user wishes toexamine a particular variable that is not available in a standard outputreport, he may select the variable and print its hourly values through theREPORT program.8. WEATHER ProgramsManipulation of weather data is a separate activity, independent of theLSPE programs. Customary use of the LSPE programs to calculate the energyconsumption of a building does not require use of the WEATHER analysisprograms. The WEATHER analysis programs may be run to examine and prepareweather data not already in the 00E-2 1 i brary. (A tab le of weather stat ionsfor which data are available in the 00E-2 library is given in Chap. VIII.)Each meteorological variable may be changed or printed, and most may beplotted as desired, through these programs.9. LibrariesSChedules Library data include graphs of various schedules that may beentered to calculate the hour-by-hour heat input to a space from lighting, equipment, or occupants. Various changes may be made in the schedule data, tocustomize it to particular requirements. Schedule data however are notmachine readable. Both the Materials Library and the Constructions Library are directlyaddressable by the 00E-2 program. The Materials Library contains data on thethermal properties of materials, to be used in the calculation of heattransfer through space boundaries. Thermal performance of a wall or roof maybe modeled 1) by selecting and mathematically laminating various materials or2) by specifying the desired construction from the Constructions Library bycode-word. Each of the ASHRAE constructions is listed in Ref. 5. Othersurfaces may be added by the user.Weather data are accessed by using control card statements. The WeatherLibrary contains Test Reference Year (TRY) data for the locations listed inChap. VIII, weather data for the National Laboratory sites, and data forvarious climate regions in California.1.7 (Revi sed 5/81)
