. Residential System (RESYS)The Residential System models direct expansion air-cooled air conditioningand forced air heating for residences. Residences that do not include unconditionedzones, such as crawl spaces and attics, can be simulated as a singlezone residence served by one system.This is the only system in 00E-2 that simulates openable windows fornatural ventilation and cooling/heating by outdoor air. The ventilation issimulated through the keywords NATURAL-VENT-SCH, VENT-TEMP-SCH, andNATURAL-VENT-AC. The system also includes acooling coil with a compressor and an air-cooled condenser, a supply fan, andopenable windows to provide natural ventilation and outside cooling/heating.Ordinarily, the electric load for the supply fan and compressor are includedin the cooling EIR. The user may separate these out by specifying SUPPLY-KW,SUPPLY-STATIC, and SUPPLY-EFF for the supply fan and OUTSIOE-FAN-KW andCOOLING-EIR for the condenser fan and compressor, respectively.** In the BEPS report in PLANT the fan electric energy for this system willappear as the electric contribution to SPACE COOLING and not to HVACAUXILIARY, .if these keywords are not provided.IV.B2(Revised 5/B1)
A number of optional features and control strategies can be specified forthis system. The optional features are discussed in Table IV.2 and thesection entitled, "Explanation of System Options" (immediately following TableIV.2). The possible control strategies for this system are discussed in Sec.8.5 of this chapter. It is highly recommended that the user read that portionof Sec. B.5 that is applicable to this system.Table IV.20 shows the commands and keywords that must be entered forsimulation of this version of the system, as well as those that are applicablebut optional (i.e., program uses default value if entry is omitted.)Heat Pump:\ )jI"eo,,)~ WINDOW-ITEMS SHOWN IN DASHED BOXESARE OPTIONAL COMPONENTSThis version of the system, the Residential Air-to-Air Heat Pump, is alsofor a single-zone constant-volume system intended for homes or offices. Therules stated in the first two paragraphs of RESYS system description applyalso to this version of the system. This unit provides forced-air heating andcooling. In its basic configuration the Residential Heat Pump con- sists of acompressor, a four-way valve for reversing the refrigerant flow direction, anair-cooled condenser with fan, an evaporator with fan, a filter (not shown),and a thermostat. The condenser also serves as an evaporator and theevaporator also serves as condenser, depending on whether the unit is in theheating or cooling mode of operation. The supply (indoor air) fan and theoutdoor fan operate in a cycling mode. The unit may be specified with anauxiliary electrical heater. To specify this type of RESYS, specifyHEAT-SOURCE = HEAT-PUMP (plus the other keywords appropriate to a heat pump,if desired).IV.83 (Revised 5/81)
