NOTE:When specifying U-names in a library for MATERIALs, LAYERS, CONSTRUCTIONs, and WEIGHTING-FACTORs, the U-names may not exceed eight alphanumeri c ch aracters in 1 en gth. -To list the contents of any library, enter the instruction DIAGNOSTIC =LIBRARY-CONTENTS (see DIAGNOSTIC instruction, Chap. II).Associated with DOE-2 is a prespecified library file called BDLLIB thatcontains the DOE-2 MATERIALs Library, LAYERS Library (including the responsefactors associated with each set of LAYERS). The LAYERS information comprisethe materials described in Chap. X of this manual, and the materials and layersdescribed in the 1977 ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals (Ref. 5, Chap. 25).The MATERIALs stored in the DOE-2 library may be entered into the LAYERSinstruction with MATERIAL = code-word, where the code-words are those found inChap. X, or by the code-words HF-x, where x is the code-number of the materiallisted in Table 8 on p. 25.10 of Ref. 5.*The ASHRAE wall and roof LAYERS may be accessed and entered into theCONSTRUCTION instruction with LAYERS = code-word, where the code-words areASHR-x for roofs, ASHW-x for exterior walls, and, for Custom Weighting Factor1 ibrary creation runs, ASHI-x are for interior walls, interior floors, orceilings. In these code-words, x is the nuooer of the roof or wall inTable 26 (pp. 25.28 and 25.29), Table 27 (pp.25.30-25.32), or Table 29 (pp.25.34 and 25.35) of Ref. 5, Chap. 25.For each of its constructions, BDLlIB contains two sets of data, one calculatedwithout an inside-film-resistance value, and one with such a value. These two sets appear under the same code-word for each construction, and theappropriate set will be chosen by BDl depending on whether the input instructionis INPUT lOADS or lIBRARY-INPUT lOADS. This is because the program musthave constructions without inside-f"ilm-resistance values to create CustomWeighting Factors, but must have constructions with inside-film-resistancevalues for a regular INPUT lOADS run. --In addition to the prespecified DOE-2 library, BDllIB, the user may createon BDllIB his own library of MATERIAls, LAYERS, CONSTRUCTIONS, and CustomWeighting Factors, or may create a new library that is a combination of hisown library and the DOE-2 prespecified library (see Fig. 111.25).Should a user wish to combine the prespecified library with his ownMATERIALs, lAYERS, CONSTRUCTIONs and/or Custom Weighting Factor libraries, heshould note two important restrictions. First, the space on BDLLIB is limitedand there is no way to delete or modify information on BDlLIB once it has beenadded without restarting a new BDlLIB file. Therefore, in a complex building,*The code-numbers AD and EO from Ref. 5 are not in BDlLIB. These are outsideand inside film resistances, respectively, and are handled differently inDOE-2. The outside film resistance is calculated by DOE-2 from wind speed andthe ROUGHNESS keyword in the CONSTRUCTION instruction. The inside film resistanceis given in DOE-2 by the INSIDE-FILM-RES keyword in the LAYERS instructionand should not be included as a material.111.149 (Revised 5/81)
