U-namePLANT-EQUIPMENTTYPESIZEAny unique user-defined name may be entered to identify thisinstruction, but none is required.This command word informs the PDL Processor that the data tofollow will specify plant equipment. If at least one PLANTEQUIPMENT instruction is not entered, the PLANT program willgenerate an error message.is a code-word selected from Table V.2 that identifies thetype of equipment to be used in the simulation calculations.(For circulating pumps, see PLANT-PARAMETERS instruction andexplanation for the 10 keywords associated with pumps.).is the nominal rated output capacity, expressed in units ofone million Btu's per hour (MBtu) for the item of equipmentbeing specified. For example, a 100-ton chiller should bespecified as SIZE = 1.20 since the conversion factor is12,000 Btu/hr-ton. A ten million Btu/hr boiler is specifiedas SIZE = 10.0. A 10,000 gallon hot water tank withHTANK-T-RANGE = 180"F (see ENERGY-STORAGE instruction) isspecified as SIZE = 15.0.The SIZE of a storage tank is the useful capacity, i.e.,SIZE = (size in gallons) * 8.34 lb/gal * 10- 6 MBtu/lb-oF * DT,where DT = HTANK-T-RANGE or CTANK-T-RANGE. The definitionsof these last two keywords are found under the ENERGY-STORAGE command.If SIZE = -999 is entered, the PLANT program will automaticallysize, in accordance with peak load, the followingtypes of equipment: all bOilers, chillers, towers, anddiesel and gas electric generators. Steam turbine generatorswill not be automatically sized.Hot water and chilled water circulation pumps are alwaysautomatically sized by the PLANT program. Heat Gain:Gain p = (Design-Load x X-LOSS) + (Elect p x X-MOTOR-EFF)INSTALLED-NUMBERMAX-NUMBER-AVAILwhere Design-Load is the peak heating or cooling loadcalculated by SYSTEMS and passed to PLANT. The symbol X inthe above equations is replaced by HCIRC for hot waterpumps and CCIRC for chilled water pumps to produce theappropriate PLANT-PARAMETERS keyword. These keywords maybe specified or allowed to default.is the total number of units of the type and size previouslyspecified. As an example, if three 100-ton chillers havebeen specified, enter INSTALLED-NUMBER = 3.0.is the total number of units of the type and size previouslyspecified that are available for simultaneous operation.The value of this keyword is a number that can equal, butnot exceed, the value entered for keyword INSTALLED-NUMBER(i.e., it is an error to specify that five units are availableif only four are installed).
