I. INTRODUCTIONThis Reference Manual describes the 00E-2 computer program that can beused to calculate hourly building heating and cooling loads, to simulate theoperation of primary and secondary heating, ventilating, and air conditioningsystems including solar energy systems, and to perform economic analyses. Themajor subprograms used for these computations are described in more detail inChapters III, IV, V, and VI. This manual provides the detailed informationneeded to understand how to use the 00E-2 computer program; it is basically astep-by-step book of "how to input data" to the computer program. This manual is also a reference book that contains library data and ,summaries of the Building Description Language (BDL) instructions, and isintended to be used primarily by engineers or architects with a background inthe thermal performance of buildings.Th is manual is produced in loose-leaf notebook form, so that it can bereadily updated and expanded by the substitution of revised pages and theaddition of new ones. The user should not be overwhelmed, or overly concerned, by the size ofthis manual. Although the information is rather voluminous, the user willaddress only these portions of the manual that deal with the problem at hand.Much of the manual is reference tables, charts, systems, and examples fromwhich the user will make a selection. Additionally, it is not necessary toinput all the data, even within the area of concern. The program has a set ofdefault values which are entered automatically by the program (and echoed backto the user) if data entry is omitted for selected keywords. An introduction to the Building Description Language (BOL) is given inChap. II. Chapters III, IV, V, and VI describe the BOL input for the LOADS,SYSTEMS, PLANT and ECONOMICS (LSPE) programs (LOL, SOL, POL, and EOL,respectively). The use of each BDL instruction to provide the specificinformation required by these programs is described in these chapters.Examples are included to illustrate the use of the input instructions.Chapter VII describes the standard preprogrammed report formats. A usermay select one or more of the standard output report formats to print theresults, or may design his own hourly reports.Chapter VIII identifies four utility programs that are useful forexamination and preparation of weather data for the 00E-2 weather library. However, these programs are not necessary to the ordinary use of the 00E-2programs, but are provided for detailed analysis of weather data; they wereused to prepare the weather data files. Test Reference Year (TRY) data for 60cities are available in the DOE-2 weather library.Chapter IX is a compact reference list of all 00E-2 commands, keywords, and code-words.Chapter X summarizes the library data applicable to DOE-2. Occupancy, lighting, ana internal heat generating equipment schedules are presented.Graphic representations of these schedules for daily (24-hour sequence),1.1 (Revised 5/81)
