7. HEAT-RECOVERYThe function of the HEAT-RECOVERY instruction is to specify the equipmentor process from which energy can be recovered and to direct that energy to aprocess or other equipment.Only one HEAT-RECOVERY instruction is allowed per PLANT run. With onlyone exception, no default values are available; if a double-bundle chiller isspecified without defining a HEAT-RECOVERY instruction, the heat rejected fromthe double bundle is delivered to space heating. A maximum of five levels ofrecoverable heat supply and demand are permitted. See the 00E-2 Engineers<strong>Manual</strong> for a description of heat recovery in appropriate equipment simulations.HEAT-RECOVERYSUPPLY-l throughSUPPLY-5This command word informs the POL Processor that the datato follow are related to recovered energy from plantequipment or processes. The user enters a list of up to three code-words fromTable V.9 that describe the equipment or process supplyingrecoverable heat. The specificationSUPPLY-l = (DIESEL-GEN, HTANK-STORAGE)DEMAND-l throughDEMANO-5assigns the waste heat from the exhaust of a diesel engineto the highest temperature level to meet demands.Similarly, the keywords SUPPLY-2 through SUPPLY-5 assignwaste heat to successively lower temperature levels. Theuser must always define these keywords in arithmetic order, starting with SUPPLY-l.The user enters a list of upTable V.10 that describe therecoverable heat should go.to three code-words fromequipment or process to whichThe definitionDEMAND-l = (SPACE-HEAT, PROCESS HEAT)specifies that the heat from the sources indicated inSUPPLY-1 are to go to fulfill the unmet demand for spaceheating and for domestic hot water or process heat inproportion to their loads. Similarly, the keywordsDEMAND-2 through OEMAND-5 describe the successively lowerpriorities for use of recoverable heat. The user shouldnever leave gaps in the numerical order of the demands,i.e., if DEMAND-l and DEMAND-3 are entered, OEMANO-2 mustalso be entered.V.55 (Revised 5/81)
