h. Floor Panel Heating System (FPH)TO ADDITIONALZONESHEATINGuNITYPRI~UMPMODULATING3 WAY VALVEI PUMPZONE (- - -~EDJPANELUUI I I I~ ~ ~IZONE No.1 ZONE NO. 2 ZONE No.3- - -\The Floor Panel Heating system, illustrated in the schematic above, provides heating for one or more zones by circulation of heated fluid througha network of pipes embedded in the floor or ceil ing. A single pump, ratherthan the primary-secondary pumping arrangement shown, is installed forsingle-zone systems. Space temperature in each zone is controlled by varyingthe temperature of the fluid circulating in that zone.Hourly heat addition rate is determined for this system exactly as forother types of systems (see Sec. A, subsection 4 of this chapter). Note thatpumping energy associated with this system is accounted for by the PLANTprogram, rather than the SYSTEMS program (see Chap. V).The ratio of panel heat losses to panel heating output must be estimatedby the user and entered (see keyword PANEL-HEAT-LOSS in the ZONE instruction). The program assumes that this ratio of heat loss to heat output remains constantover the full range of panel output.A number of optional features and control strategies can be specified forthis system. The optional features are discussed in Table IV.2 and the sectionentitled, "Explanation of System Options" (immediately following Table IV.2).The possible control strategies for this system are discussed in Sec. B.5 ofthis chapter. It is highly recommended that the user read that portion ofSec. B.5 that is applicable to this system.Table IV.I0 shows the commands and keywords that must be entered for simulationof this system, as well as those that are applicable but optional (i .e.,program uses default value if entry is omitted.)I V. 43 (Revised 5/81)
