PLANT Program. Built-up system simulations result in demandsthat are passed to PLANT, for hot water, chilled water, electricity, gas, and/or oil. These demands may be met inPLANT by purchased utilities or energy conversion €.quipmentthat is operating on purchased or renewable utilities.Packaged Systems - Packaged systems are usually self-containedun1ts, Wh1Ch may be considered as hybrid systems/plants. Theseunits are normally produced as one or more modular pieces ofequipment, which have been prematched, and require onlyinstallation. They normally possess all the necessaryequipment for energy conversion and distribution. They tooproduce a utility demand for electricity, gas, and/or oil.Zonal vs. Central Systems - Occasionally throughout this text, reference 1S made to "zonal system." This term is defined inthis context to mean any system that has an air handling unitin each zone, which is controlled by a thermostat in thatzone. The system may be a packaged self-contained system(fueled only by a utility) or it may be supported by a centralsystem (supplying hot water, chilled water, warm air, or coolair). The zonal systems are UHT, UVT, TPFC, FPFC, TPIU, FPIU,HP, and PTAC. (The TPIU and FPIU are included in this listonly because their zone coils are sized individually for eachzone, although a portion of the heating and cooling is suppliedby a primary system). The available <strong>DOE</strong>-2 systems and their code-words are listed inTable IV.40. The first listed code-word (SUM) does notactually simulate a system, but it is a diagnostic that is usedto provide a summation of zone loads.SYSTEM-CONTROL is a U-name previously assigned under the instructionSYSTEM-CONTROL. The common U-name matches the correct "systemcontrol" to each "system". No data entry here will result indefault to the values specified under the instructionSYSTEM-CONTROL.An alternative mode for data entry is to complete and enterSYSTEM-CONTROL keyword instructions directly into SYSTEM (ifthis approach is chosen, omit the SYSTEM-CONTROL instructionhere in SYSTEM.)I V. 258 (Revised 5/81)
