4. WARNING and ERROR Messages for the Custom Weighting Factors Gener4tionProgr amWARNING MESSAGESWarning Message (1)Meaning:User Action:Warning Message (2)Meaning:User Action:Note:The INSIDE-FILM-RESISTANCE OF DELAYED SURFACE IN SPACE IS . IT SHOULD BE BETWEEN 0.0AND 1.0. CALCULATION OF WEIGHTING FACTORS FOR THISSPACE WILL PROCEED USING A VALUE OF 0.68.The inside film resistance (INSIDE-FILM-RES) of a surfaceis the combined convective plus radiative insideair film resistance. The ~ustom Weighting Factor programobtains the convective resistance from the userinputvalue of INSIDE-FILM-RES and a fixed value forthe radiative resistance. This convective resistancewill be negative, i.e., unphysical, if INSIDE-FILM-RESexceeds 1.0 ft 2 -hr-oF/Btu. In this case, the abovewarning message is printed, and the program resetsINSIDE-FILM-RES to 0.68, which is typical of horizontalheat flows for vertical walls. If 0.68 is acceptable, no action is necessary; otherwise, input a value between 0.0 and 1.0. Recommendedvalues are listed in the ASH RAE Handbook of Fundamentals,1977, p. 22.11.SPACE HAS WALL(S), FLOOR(S),AND CEILING(S). IT SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST ONEOF EACH. THE WEIGHTING FACTORS CALCULATED FOR THISSPACE MAY BE INACCURATE. (QUICK INTERIOR WALLS WITHU-VALUE ABOVE 0.709 ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SURFACECOUNT. )This. message is a reminder that the user may haveforgotten to specify some of the surfaces in a space,or may have intentionally left out some interiorsurfaces (such as a floor or ceiling between spaces)because the heat flow across these surfaces is expectedto be small. However, an accurate calculation of thecustom weighting factors requires that all the boundingsurfaces of a space be input.Be sure that all bounding surfaces (exterior walls, interior walls, and underground walls) are described ifcustom weighting factors are being calculated. This message will appear if all the surfaces have beenspecified, but the TILT of underground walls andinterior walls has been allowed to default to 90°. Theprogram, therefore, finds no floor or ceiling andprints the message .. In this case, the message can beignored.II 1.162 (Revised 5/81)
