5. If a LOAD-ASSIGNMENT instruction is not defined the PLANT program willattempt optimization by allowing only one type of absorption chiller, onetype of compression chiller (other than double bundle chillers), and onetype of cooling tower to be simulated in one run of the program. However, more than one type of each may be specified, in which case, regardless ofthe number entered as being available, certain types will not be "put inoperation." This may be useful if an older equipment model is beinginstalled purely as a standby. Its cost will be computed by the program, despite the fact that it never operates. The rule employed by the programto determine which equipment type to operate is a precedence rule basedpurely on equipment types as shown in Table V.3. If the user specifiesLOAD-ASSIGN~lErns, the different types of equipment may be mixed, but withnot more.than 3 types under a given LOAD-RANGE.TABLE V.3EQUIPMENT PRECEDENCE RULEPrecedence Rule:If no LOAD-ASSIGNMENT instruction is defined, each equipment TYPEexcludes those equipment TYPES, listed below it. The precedence ruleapplies only to the listed equipment TYPEs.Equipment TypeBoilers Absorption Chillers Compression Chillers Cooling Towersl)Steam boiler l)One-stage solar l)Hermetic reciprocating l)Ceramicabsorption2)Hot-waterboiler3)Electricsteam boiler4)Electric hotwaterboiler2)Hermetic centrifugal2)Two-stage absorption 3)Open reciprocating3)One-stage absorption4)Open centrifugal2)Nonceramic6. The storage tanks will not operate unless a LOAD-ASSIGNMENT instructionis specified for their operation.V.15 (Revi sed 5/81)
