vi. Control Strategy for SYSTEM-TYPE Equals FPHIf the user has not done so, he should read the General subsection (Sec.B.5.a of th is chapter) before continuing here. That subsection containsinformation that is appropriate to the control strategy for the Floor PanelHeating (FPH) system. The FPH SYSTEM-TYPE has a central heating source, a primary pump, and apipe loop with a heating fluid, which flows to all the heated ZONEs in theSYSTEM. Each ZONE contains a secondary pump, a heating panel (normallylocated in the floor), a modulating control valve, and a one set pointthermostat. The desired heating set point is specified with the keywordHEAT-TEMP-SCH (plus its associated SCHEDULE). The primary pump operates ondemand from anyone or all of the ZONEs. The secondary pump and control valvein each heated ZONE operate on demand from the thermostat within that ZONE.At calculated ZONE temperatures above the heating THROTTLING-RANGE, theoutput rate in the heating panel is zero. As the calculated ZONE temperaturedrops from the top to the bottom of the heating THROTTLING-RANGE, the heatingoutput rate increases linearly from zero to maximum. BelOi/ the bottom of theheating THROTTLING-RANGE, the heating output rate remains at the maximum, inan attempt to raise the ZONE temperature back to within the heatingTHROTTLING-RANGE.Procedure:(1) Specify SYSTEM-TYPE = FPH in the SYSTEM command.(2) Speci fy HEAT - TEMP-SCH in the ZONE-CONTROL subcommand (and anassociated SCHEDULE) with hourly values of desired ZONE temperaturefor heating. If the user does not specify a HEAT-TEMP-SCH for aZONE, it will not be heated.(3) Specify THERMOSTAT-TYPE = PROPORTIONAL (or allow it to default) inthe ZONE-CONTROL subcommand.(4) The control strategy for the system has now been specified. Tocomplete the input, specify values for the other keywords that areappropriate to this SYSTEM-TYPE, or allow these keywords to default.IV.150 (Revised 5/81)
