For nausea and stomach and abdominaldistention, add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Ban Xia (RhizomaPinelliae) and Chen Pi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae). Forconcomitant spleen qi vacuity, add 15 grams each <strong>of</strong> HuangQi (Radix Astragali) and nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Dang Shen(Radix Codonopsitis), Bai Zhu (Rhizoma AtractylodisMacrocephalae), and Fu Ling (Poria). For severeenlargement <strong>of</strong> the prostate which is, nevertheless still s<strong>of</strong>t,add 12 grams each <strong>of</strong> Hai Zao (Sargassum), Kun Bu (ThallusAlgae), and Mu Li (Concha Ostreae). For severe enlargementand hardening <strong>of</strong> the prostate, add 12 grams <strong>of</strong> E Zhu(Rhizoma Curcumae) and three grams <strong>of</strong> Shui Zhi (Hi<strong>ru</strong>do),powdered and taken with the strained decoction. For concomitantdamp heat, add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Zhi Mu(Rhizoma Anemarrhenae) and Huang Bai (CortexPhellodendri).An alternative treatment is Bu Shen Li Niao Tang(Supplement the Kidneys & Disinhibit Urine Decoction):Huang Qi (Radix Astragali), 30g, Dang Shen (RadixCodonopsitis), Rou Cong Rong (Herba Cistanchis), Ze Xie(Rhizoma Alismatis), and Che Qian Zi (Semen Plantagis),15g each, Fu Ling (Poria), Tao Ren (Semen Persicae), andHong Hua (Flos Carthami), 12g each, Chuan Shan Jia(Squama Manitis) and Wang Bu Liu Xing (Semen Vaccariae),9g each, and Rou Gui (Cortex Cin<strong>nam</strong>omi), 3g.ACUPUNCTURE & MOXIBUSTION: Hui Yin (CV 1), GuanYuan (CV 4), San Yin Jiao (Sp 6), Shen Shu (Bl 23)ANALYSIS OF FORMULA: Supplementing Hui Yin withmoxibustion supplements vacuity, harmonizes the networkvessels, and secures the kidneys. Supplementing Guan Yuanand Shen Shu with moxibustion warms the lower origin andsecures the kidneys. Supplementing San Yin Jiao supplementsthe spleen and kidneys, transforms dampness, dividesthe clear, and stops pain.
