Dan Pialso clears and cools the blood. In addition, it quickens theblood and helps stop pain. If there is lower abdominal pain, add 18grams <strong>of</strong> Bai Shao (Radix Paeoniae Albae) and 12 grams <strong>of</strong>Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae). For recalcitrant lesions, addnine grams each <strong>of</strong> Bai Lian (Radix Ampelopsis Japonicae),Bai Wei (Radix Cynanchi Atrati), Xi Yang Shen (RadixQuinquefolii), and Lu Dou Yi (Testa Phaseoli Munginis). Forsevere itching and pain, add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Zi Cao(Radix Arnebiae/Lithospermi) and Gou Teng (RamulusUncariae Cum Uncis) and 12 grams <strong>of</strong> Shi Jue Ming (ConchaHaliotidis).ACUPUNCTURE & MOXIBUSTION: San Yin Jiao (Sp 6), FuLiu (Ki 7), Yin Ling Quan (Sp 9), Xue Hai (Sp 10)ANALYSIS OF FORMULA: Supplementing Fu Liu and evensupplementing-even draining San Yin Jiao supplements thekidneys and enriches yin. Do not get this paste on surrounding unulceratedtissue. Apply 2-3 times per day. Do not use if there are noulcerated lesions. It is also possible to apply Si Huang Powder(Four Yellows Powder) to the affected area once the blistershave broken. This is made from a mixture <strong>of</strong> powdered equalportions <strong>of</strong> Huang Lian (Rhizoma Coptidis), Huang Qin(Radix Scutellariae), Huang Bai (Cortex Phellodendri), andDa Huang (Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei).3. At the first sign <strong>of</strong> recurrent episodes, take 15 grams ormore <strong>of</strong> Huang Qi (Radix Astragali) and 3-6 grams <strong>of</strong> powderedgarlic and vitamin C per day and apply Tea Tree Oil tothe area where sores typically recur. In addition, one shouldimmediately change to a clear, bland diet and get plenty <strong>of</strong>rest.
