HYPERLIPOPROTEINEMIA 287govern the qi of the whole body and especially downbearingand depuration. To promote depur- ating and downbearing, this point should be drained. Chi Ze is the child-water ordraining point of the lungs. Therefore, draining it can drainheat from the lungs and upper burner wafting upward fromthe middle and lower burners. Because the lungs are the uppersource of water, clearing and rectifying the lung qi can also disinhibitthe water passageways, thus helping eliminate dampnessand turbidity. Draining Feng Long harmonizes the stomachand is a main point for transforming phlegm. Da ChangShu is the back transport point of the large intestine. Drainingit drains large intestine accumulation. When He Gu and QuChi are both drained, they strongly drain replete heat fromboth the upper and lower burners. Because they are transportpoints on the hand yang ming, they also strongly rectify thelarge intestine qi.ADDITIONS & SUBTRACTIONS: To more forcefullydescend and precipitate heat binding and accumulating inthe yang ming, add Nei Ting (St 44) and Tian Shu (St 25).To more strongly downbear turbidity and transform phlegm, add Zhong Wan (CV 12). For phlegm heat harassing theheart, add Lao Gong (Per 8).5. SPLEEN-KIDNEY YANG VACUITY PATTERNMAIN SYMPTOMS: A typically older patient with low backpain, lack of strength, fear of cold, chilled limbs, abdominalfullness, torpid intake, loose stools, shortness of breath, disinclinationto speak, tinnitus, blurred vision, a fat, paletongue with thin, white fur, and a deep, fine pulseTREATMENT PRINCIPLES: Warm yang and transform turbidity, fortify the spleen and supplement the kidneysRX: You Gui Wan Jia Jian (Restore the Right [Kidney] Pillswith Additions & Subtractions)INGREDIENTS:Gou Qi Zi (Fructus Lycii)Fu Ling (Poria)Shu Di (cooked Radix Rehmanniae)processed He Shou Wu (Radix Polygoni Multiflori)Du Zhong (Cortex Eucommiae)Shan Yao (Radix Dioscoreae)Ba Ji Tian (Radix Morindae Officinalis)Bu Gu Zhi (Fructus Psoraleae)Dang Shen (Radix Codonopsitis)Bai Zhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae)Zhi Fu Zi (Radix Lateralis Praeparatus AconitiCarmichaeli)20g20g15g15g15g15g9g9g9g9g6gANALYSIS OF FORMULA: Gou Qi, Shu Di, and He Shou Wuenrich the kidneys and supplement yin to bolster yang. In addition, it supplements the latter heavento support the former heaven and it lowers fat. Draining NeiGuan moves the qi, lowers fat, and prevents heart disease. ZuSan Li and Nei Guan together, are an empirically effectivecombination for treating hyperlipoproteinemia. When treatedwith moxibustion and supplementing method, GuanYuan and Ming Men warm and supplement the kidneys fromthe yin and yang aspects respectively.ADDITIONS & SUBTRACTIONS: If there is phlegm, add FengLong (St 40) and Yin Ling Quan (Sp 9).
