For nausea and stomach and abdominal distention,add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Ban Xia (Rhizoma Pinelliae) andChen Pi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae ). For severe distentionand pain in the Hui Yin (CV 1) area, add 15 grams each <strong>of</strong> LiZhi He (Semen Litchi) and Ju He (Semen Citri Reticulatae)and nine grams <strong>of</strong> Chuan Lian Zi (F<strong>ru</strong>ctus Toosendan). Forfever, add nine grams <strong>of</strong> Huang Lian (Rhizoma Coptidis) and30 grams <strong>of</strong> Pu Gong Ying (Herba Taraxaci). For bloody urine,add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Da Ji (Herba Cirsii) and Xiao Ji(Herba Cephalanoploris) and 20 grams each <strong>of</strong> Sheng Di(uncooked Radix Rehmanniae) and Bai Mao Gen (RhizomaImperatae). For insomnia and restlessness, add 12 grams each<strong>of</strong> Shi Chang Pu (Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii), Fu Shen(Sclerotium Pararadicis Poriae Cocos), and Yuan Zhi (RadixPolygalae).If enduring damp heat has damaged yin and there is stasis andstagnation, replace Huang Bai Jiang Cao Tang with Xuan ShenSheng Di Tang (Scrophularia & Uncooked RehmanniaDecoction): Xuan Shen (Radix Scrophulariae) and Sheng Di(uncooked Radix Rehmanniae), 15g each, Zi Cao (RadixArnebiae/Lithospermi), Zi Hua Di Ding (Herba Violae), andChe Qian Zi (Semen Plantaginis), 12g each, E Jiao (GelatinumCorii Asini), Huang Bai (Cortex Phellodendri), Ru Xiang(Olibanum), Mo Yao (Myrrha), and Yi Mu Cao (HerbaLeonuri), 9g each. If there is qi vacuity with fatigue and lack <strong>of</strong>strength, add 15 grams <strong>of</strong> Huang Qi (Radix Astragali) and ninegrams <strong>of</strong> Dang Shen (Radix Codonopsitis). If there is concomitantyang vacuity, add 6-9 grams each <strong>of</strong> Zhi Fu Zi (RadixLateralis Praeparatus Aconiti Carmichaeli) and Rou Gui(Cortex Cin<strong>nam</strong>omi). If there is constipation, add six grams <strong>of</strong>Da Huang (Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei). If there is lower abdominaldistention, add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Chuan Lian Zi (F<strong>ru</strong>ctusToosendan ) and Wu Yao (Radix Linderae).ACUPUNCTURE & MOXIBUSTION: Qu Gu (CV 2), Hui Yin(CV 1), Yin Ling Quan (Sp 9), Zhi Bian (Bl 54)ANALYSIS OF FORMULA: Draining Qu Gu, Hui Yin, andYin Ling Quan clears heat and disinhibits dampness in thelower burner. Zhi Bian quickens the blood and disinhibitsdampness, frees the flow <strong>of</strong> the network vessels and stopspain. Needle Zhi Bian with deep insertion in the direction <strong>of</strong>Gui Lai (St 29) or Shui Dao (St 28).ADDITIONS & SUBTRACTIONS: For pain in the genitals,add Da Dun (Liv 1). For marked damp heat with scanty, burning,urgent, frequent, painful urination or simply difficult urination,add San Yin Jiao (Sp 6) and Zhi Bian (Bl 54). For turbidor milky white urine, add San Yin Jiao (Sp 6). For constipationor dry stools, add Zhi Gou (TB 6). For dry mouth,add Fu Liu (Ki 7). For nausea and stomach and abdominaldistention, add Zhong Wan (CV 12) and Tian Shu (St 25).For fever, add He Gu (LI 4), Wai Guan (TB 5), and Qu Chi(LI 11). For bloody urine, add Xue Hai (Sp 10). For insomniaand restlessness, add Tong Li (Ht 5).
