If there is no constipation, subtract DaHuang. For severe constipation, add nine grams <strong>of</strong> MangXiao (Natrii Sulfas). For emaciation, add 15 grams each <strong>of</strong>Bai Zhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) and HuangJing (Rhizoma Polygonati). For severe thirst, add 15 gramseach <strong>of</strong> Tian Hua Fen (Radix Trichosanthis), Yu Zhu(Rhizoma Polygonati Odorati), and Ge Gen (RadixPuerariae). For frequent, pr<strong>of</strong>use urination, add nine gramseach <strong>of</strong> Gou Qi Zi (F<strong>ru</strong>ctus Lycii), Wu Mei (F<strong>ru</strong>ctus Mume),and Jin Ying Zi (F<strong>ru</strong>ctus Rosae Laevigatae).ACUPUNCTURE & MOXIBUSTION: Shang Wan (CV 13),Zhong Wan (CV 12), Xia Wan (CV 10), Qi Hai (CV 6), TianShu (St 25), Nei Guan (Per 6), Zu San Li (St 36)ANALYSIS OF FORMULA: Draining Shang Wan, Zhong Wan,and Xia Wan disinhibits the qi mechanism and regulates andrectifies upbearing and downbearing. Draining Tian Shu andQi Hai regulates and rectifies the qi <strong>of</strong> the lower burner ingeneral and intestines in particular. Supplementing Zu SanLi supplements the spleen and boosts the qi on the one handand regulates and rectifies the qi <strong>of</strong> the yang ming on theother. Nei Guan is a point on the hand jue yin. Draining itcourses the liver and rectifies the qi, harmonizes the stomachand downbears counterflow.ADDITIONS & SUBTRACTIONS: For symptoms <strong>of</strong> cold,add moxibustion on Zu San Li, Zhong Wan, Qi Hai, andTian Shu.
