If there is severe pain and a hotsensation in the joints <strong>of</strong> the limbs, add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> XiXian Cao (Herba Siegesbeckiae) and Hong Teng (CaulisSargentodoxae). For alternating cold and heat(i.e., fever and chills), add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Chai Hu(Radix Bupleuri) and Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae). Forheat damaging yin fluids, add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Shi Hu(Herba Dendrobii) and Tian Hua Fen (Radix Trichosanthis).If there is pain in the upper limbs, add nine grams <strong>of</strong> SangZhi (Ramulus Mori). If there is pain in the lower limbs, addnine grams <strong>of</strong> Mu Gua (F<strong>ru</strong>ctus Chaenomelis). If there ispain in the shoulder, add nine grams <strong>of</strong> Jiang Huang(Rhizoma Curcumae Longae).
