Conversely, in case <strong>of</strong> weakness <strong>of</strong> the bones, oneshould supplement the kidneys, boost the marrow, andstrengthen the bones. Supplementing Fu Liu with moxibustionsupplements both the yin and yang <strong>of</strong> the kidneys aswell as the former heaven essence. Supplementing XuanZhong, the meeting point <strong>of</strong> the marrow, boosts the marrow.Supplementing Da Zhu, the meeting point <strong>of</strong> the bones,strengthens the bones. <strong>The</strong>se three points are the key combinationfor bone troubles due to kidney vacuity when thespinal column is mainly affected. If there is heat in theheart, add 15 grams <strong>of</strong> Xuan Shen (Radix Scrophulariae). Ifthere is heat in the spleen with rapid hungering after meals, add15 grams <strong>of</strong> Bai Shao (Radix Paeoniae Albae). If vacuity heat ismarked, add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Zhi Mu (RhizomaAnemarrhenae) and Huang Bai (Cortex Phellodendri). If thereis bleeding due to heat entering the blood division, add 15grams <strong>of</strong> Sheng Di (uncooked Radix Rehmanniae) and HanLian Cao (Herba Ecliptae). If there is blood vacuity, add ninegrams <strong>of</strong> Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis). If there is severeosteoporosis, add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Gu Sui Bu (RhizomaDrynariae) and Gui Ban (Plast<strong>ru</strong>m Testudinis).
