Heart palpitations, agitation, andrestlessness are mostly due to phlegm and heat harassing theheart spirit. Excessive appetite and rapid hungering are dueto stomach heat. Weakness and fatigue are due to spleenvacuity. Tremors and shaking are due to liver heat stirringwind and to liver-kidney yin vacuity not nourishing thesinew vessels. Staring eyes (actually bulging eyes) are due toliver fire, phlegm, and qi counterflowing upward and congealingand gathering in the eyes. For increasedappetite, add 15 grams <strong>of</strong> Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum) andnine grams <strong>of</strong> Zhi Mu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae). For aversionto heat with sweating, add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Zhi Zi(F<strong>ru</strong>ctus Gardeniae) and Dan Shen (Radix SalviaeMiltiorrhizae). For loose stools, increase the dosage <strong>of</strong> DangShen, Bai Zhu, Fu Ling, and Chen Pi. For tremors <strong>of</strong> thehand or fingers, add 15 grams each <strong>of</strong> Jiang Can (BombyxBatryticatus) and Chan Tui (Periostracum Cicadae). Forsevere goiter, add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Huang Yao Zi (RhizomaDioscoreae Bulberiferae), San Leng (Rhizoma Sparganii),and E Zhu (Rhizoma Curcumae). For concomitant bloodvacuity, add nine grams each <strong>of</strong> Dang Gui (Radix AngelicaeSinensis) and Dan Shen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae). Forleukopenia, add 15 grams each <strong>of</strong> Huang Qi (RadixAstragali) and Ji Xue Teng (Caulis Spatholobi) and ninegrams <strong>of</strong> Lu Jiao Jiao (Gelatinum Cornu Cervi). For a sensation<strong>of</strong> throat obst<strong>ru</strong>ction, add 12 grams <strong>of</strong> She Gan(Rhizoma Belamcandae). For severe liver depression qi stagnation,add six grams <strong>of</strong> Qing Pi (Pericarpium CitriReticulatae Viride).ACUPUNCTURE & MOXIBUSTION: Tai Chong (Liv 3), FengLong (St 40), Nao Hui (TB 13), Tian Chuang (SI 16), TianDing (LI 17), Tian Rong (SI 17), Tian Tu (CV 22)ANALYSIS OF FORMULA: Tai Chong rectifies the qi andresolves depression. Feng Long transforms phlegm. TianChuang, Tian Ding, Tian Rong, and Tian Tu s<strong>of</strong>ten the hardand scatter nodulation. Nao Hui courses and frees the flow <strong>of</strong>the three burners and disperses goiter qi. Needle all thesepoints with draining method.ADDITIONS & SUBTRACTIONS: For severe liver depression,add Yang Ling Quan (GB 34).
