If there is the risk <strong>of</strong> cardiac infarct, add ninegrams <strong>of</strong> Xie Bai (Bulbus Allii Macrostemi) and three grams<strong>of</strong> Xue Jie (Sanguis Draconis) and San Qi (RadixNotoginseng), powdered and taken with the strained decoction.ACUPUNCTURE & MOXIBUSTION: Dan Zhong (CV 17),Ge Shu (Bl 17), Nei Guan (Per 6), Xi Men (Per 4)ANALYSIS OF FORMULA: Dan Zhong is the meeting point <strong>of</strong>the qi, and Ge Shu is the meeting point <strong>of</strong> the blood.Together, they move the gathering or chest qi and quicken theheart blood, transform stasis and free the flow <strong>of</strong> the networkvessels. Nei Guan is the network point <strong>of</strong> the pericardium. Itfrees the flow <strong>of</strong> the network vessels <strong>of</strong> the heart and regulatescardiac rhythm, reinforces the left ventricle <strong>of</strong> the heart andtreats the CAD. Xi Men is the cleft point <strong>of</strong> the pericardium.<strong>The</strong> cleft point <strong>of</strong> yin channels are well-known for treatingpain and acute diseases and for stopping bleeding. Xi Mentreats heart pain and prevents infarct <strong>of</strong> the heart. All thesepoints should be needled with draining method.ADDITIONS & SUBTRACTIONS: If there are cold hands ora cold sensation in the cardiac area, add moxibustion on DanZhong and Ge Shu. If there is concomitant qi vacuity, add ZuSan Li (St 36). If there is concomitant ascendant liver yanghyperactivity with hypertension, add Tai Chong (Liv 3) andFeng Chi (GB 20). If qi stagnation is more pronounced, addHe Gu (LI 4). If blood stasis is even more severe, add San YinJiao (Sp 6). After 10 treatments, alternate Nei Guan and XiMen with Ling Dao (Ht 4) and Jian Shi (Per 5) and DanZhong and Ge Shu with Xin Shu (Bl 15) and Ju Que (CV 14).If there is impaired memory and insomnia due to bloodvacuity, add Shen Men (Ht 7). If there is hyperlipoproteinemia,add Zu San Li (St 36) or Feng Long (St 40).3.
