Electrical Specifications (Continued)6.6 I/O CURRENT DE-RATING CURVEAs mentioned Section 6.5.2.3 “Definition of System Conditionsfor Measuring "On" Parameters” on page 191, theI/O current of the processor is affected by two systemparameters, DCLK and SDRAM frequency. A de-ratingcurve (see Figure 6-3) is provided so that the systemdesigner can determine the absolute maximum I/O currentused by the processor for a particular design. Corecurrent is not significantly affected by these two parameters,so a core current de-rating curve is not provided.6.6.1 Display ResolutionThe change in current of five common display resolutionsis used to extrapolate the de-rating curve. DCLK isderived from the display resolution, color depth, andrefresh rate. The relationship between DCLK and I/O currentis linear. The system designer must determine themaximum DCLK frequency required in the system basedon the maximum display that will be supported.6.6.2 Memory SpeedEach device in the GXLV processor series is defined by aparticular core voltage and core frequency. The SDRAMfrequency is derived internally by a programmable divisorof the core frequency. Typically, there are three SDRAMfrequencies between 55 and 100 MHz that can be derivedfrom a single core frequency. These three frequencies areprovided in the following de-rating curve so that theireffect on current can be seen. Just as with the display resolution,current de-rating due to memory speed is linear.SDRAM frequencies between 79 and 100 MHz are onlysupported for certain types of closed systems and strictdesign rules must be adhered to.
