We are committed to environmental awareness tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong><br />

education for <strong>our</strong> employees, alongside effective<br />

communication with them, <strong>and</strong> recognition of their <strong>in</strong>itiatives<br />

<strong>and</strong> achievements towards environmental improvement.<br />

To strengthen <strong>our</strong> ability to meet <strong>our</strong> <strong>commitments</strong>, we ran<br />

environmental awareness tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g sessions <strong>in</strong> 89 countries <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>2015</strong>, <strong>and</strong> plan to extend this to all countries of operation by<br />

2016. Dur<strong>in</strong>g the year, more than 4000 <strong>Nestlé</strong> employees<br />

around the world undertook the Environmental Susta<strong>in</strong>ability<br />

at <strong>Nestlé</strong> e-learn<strong>in</strong>g c<strong>our</strong>se, to enhance their knowledge <strong>and</strong><br />

learn how to apply environmentally susta<strong>in</strong>able bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />

practices.<br />

Dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>2015</strong>, we delivered 16 sessions of the <strong>Nestlé</strong><br />

Environmental Susta<strong>in</strong>ability Leadership workshop, ‘We make<br />

<strong>Nestlé</strong> res<strong>our</strong>ceful’, to 245 employees <strong>in</strong> Australia, Brazil,<br />

Ch<strong>in</strong>a, Dubai, Malaysia, Mexico, Panama, the Philipp<strong>in</strong>es,<br />

Spa<strong>in</strong>, Switzerl<strong>and</strong>, the United K<strong>in</strong>gdom, the United States <strong>and</strong><br />

Venezuela. We also cont<strong>in</strong>ued deploy<strong>in</strong>g <strong>our</strong> tra<strong>in</strong>-the-tra<strong>in</strong>ers<br />

plan to assist <strong>in</strong> the wider reach of this workshop across<br />

<strong>our</strong> markets.<br />

Additionally, senior managers had the opportunity to attend<br />

the Pr<strong>in</strong>ce of Wales’s Bus<strong>in</strong>ess & Susta<strong>in</strong>ability Programme at<br />

Cambridge University.<br />

Shar<strong>in</strong>g <strong>our</strong> progress<br />

<strong>Nestlé</strong>’s strong policies, cont<strong>in</strong>uous improvement <strong>and</strong><br />

transparent report<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the area of environmental<br />

susta<strong>in</strong>ability are be<strong>in</strong>g reflected <strong>in</strong> external recognition, as<br />

outl<strong>in</strong>ed below.<br />

• As <strong>in</strong> 2014, we aga<strong>in</strong> achieved an <strong>in</strong>dustry-lead<strong>in</strong>g score of<br />

99 out of 100 <strong>in</strong> the ‘environmental dimension’ of the <strong>2015</strong><br />

Dow Jones Susta<strong>in</strong>ability Index (DJSI). The environmental<br />

section of the <strong>in</strong>dex is based on an analysis of companies’<br />

performance <strong>in</strong> areas <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g environmental<br />

management, environmental report<strong>in</strong>g, climate strategy,<br />

water risk, packag<strong>in</strong>g, genetically modified organisms, raw<br />

material s<strong>our</strong>c<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> eco-efficiency; <strong>and</strong><br />

• In November <strong>2015</strong>, we received a Climate Change Award<br />

from the environmental susta<strong>in</strong>ability rat<strong>in</strong>gs agency CDP,<br />

hav<strong>in</strong>g achieved the maximum score of 100 A <strong>in</strong> the Climate<br />

Disclosure Leadership Index. The CDP <strong>in</strong>dices measure how<br />

more than 4700 companies <strong>in</strong>corporate climate change <strong>in</strong>to<br />

their bus<strong>in</strong>ess plans, monitor emissions, report transparently<br />

<strong>and</strong> act to mitigate impacts. Our score makes us one of only<br />

64 companies on the Climate A List, which recognises<br />

companies that are lead<strong>in</strong>g the way with their actions to<br />

reduce emissions <strong>and</strong> mitigate climate change.<br />

We also received recognition for <strong>our</strong> efforts to manage water<br />

use <strong>and</strong> mitigate water risks.<br />
