Externally, we share <strong>our</strong> f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs with health community<br />
professionals <strong>and</strong> public health authorities, to help address<br />
public health issues both nationally <strong>and</strong> globally. For example,<br />
portion size data from KNHS forms the basis for <strong>our</strong><br />
discussions on reference amounts customarily consumed<br />
(RACCs) with regulatory authorities <strong>in</strong> the United States.<br />
We also shared f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs from the MING study with more than<br />
2144 public health professionals through 12 <strong>Nestlé</strong> workshops<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>2015</strong>, <strong>and</strong> across Ch<strong>in</strong>a via the NNI.<br />
We also share knowledge through publications. Our latest<br />
publications from both 2014 <strong>and</strong> <strong>2015</strong> <strong>in</strong>clude:<br />
• A paper on the diets of <strong>in</strong>fants <strong>and</strong> toddlers <strong>in</strong> the United<br />
States who participated <strong>in</strong> the Special Supplemental<br />
Nutrition Feed<strong>in</strong>g Program for Women, Infants, <strong>and</strong><br />
Children (WIC);<br />
• A review of parents’ perceptions of their children’s diets<br />
<strong>in</strong> the United States (see the case study on page 55);<br />
• A study of early wean<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>fant feed<strong>in</strong>g practices<br />
among Mexican children;<br />
• Papers on food s<strong>our</strong>ces of energy <strong>and</strong> nutrients for <strong>in</strong>fants<br />
<strong>and</strong> toddlers <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a;<br />
• Papers on nutrient adequacy <strong>and</strong> non-communicable<br />
disease risk factors for children <strong>and</strong> adolescents <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a;<br />
<strong>and</strong><br />
• Results <strong>in</strong> Mexico show<strong>in</strong>g that <strong>in</strong>creased snack<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong><br />
meal frequency is associated with higher energy <strong>in</strong>takes<br />

The Asian Congress of Nutrition<br />
The ACN meets once every f<strong>our</strong> years to enc<strong>our</strong>age<br />
scientific <strong>in</strong>terchange between food <strong>and</strong> nutrition<br />
researchers from Asian countries <strong>and</strong> worldwide. Its<br />
meet<strong>in</strong>g with the theme ‘Nutrition <strong>and</strong> Food for<br />
Longevity’ was held <strong>in</strong> Yokohama, Japan, <strong>in</strong> May <strong>2015</strong>.<br />
Scientists from the NRC presented its work to a broad<br />
scientific audience <strong>in</strong> Asia, through two scientific symposia:<br />
• Present<strong>in</strong>g Feed<strong>in</strong>g Infants <strong>and</strong> Toddlers Study (FITS)<br />
(MING study) <strong>and</strong> KNHS <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a; <strong>and</strong><br />
• Introduc<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>Nestlé</strong> Nutritional Profil<strong>in</strong>g System.<br />
A summary of the <strong>Nestlé</strong> Nutritional Profil<strong>in</strong>g System<br />
(NNPS) <strong>in</strong> Asia, presented at the symposia, was<br />
published <strong>in</strong> the supplement of the J<strong>our</strong>nal of Nutrition<br />
Science <strong>and</strong> Vitam<strong>in</strong>ology, <strong>and</strong> f<strong>our</strong> exceptional scientists<br />
were nom<strong>in</strong>ated by ACN organisers to receive the <strong>Nestlé</strong><br />
Nutrition Investigator Award.<br />

In <strong>2015</strong>, results were presented at several <strong>in</strong>ternational<br />
scientific meet<strong>in</strong>gs, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the Asia Pacific Conference on<br />
Cl<strong>in</strong>ical Nutrition (Malaysia), the Asian Congress of Nutrition<br />
(ACN; Japan), Experimental Biology (United States) <strong>and</strong> the<br />
International Society of Behavi<strong>our</strong>al Nutrition <strong>and</strong> Physical<br />
Activity (United K<strong>in</strong>gdom), the Lancet/Ch<strong>in</strong>ese Medical<br />
Society meet<strong>in</strong>g (Beij<strong>in</strong>g) <strong>and</strong> the Congress of the Lat<strong>in</strong><br />
American Society of Nutrition (SLAN; Dom<strong>in</strong>ican Republic).<br />
